Privacy policy
Your voice stays yours.
Sayso turns your speech into text and actions on your own PC. We don't have servers that receive your voice, we don't run accounts, and we don't sell anything about you.
Last updated 26 October 2026
The short version
- Speech is recognised on your PC. Recordings are never uploaded.
- No account, no tracking. Sayso has no sign-in, no ads and no analytics.
- It only goes online when you ask for something online, like the weather or a web search.
- Everything it keeps lives on your PC, where you can read it or delete it.
The Sayso app
Your voice. The microphone opens only while you hold the shortcut, or briefly after, and closes again a few seconds later. If you turn on the optional "Hey Sayso" wake word, the microphone stays on and listens for the phrase on your PC; nothing is recorded or stored until you say it. Audio is kept in memory only while it's being turned into text, then thrown away.
What stays on your PC. To help you (and us, if you send them to us) fix mistakes, Sayso keeps a small log of what it heard and did in its own logs folder: an app log and a history of transcripts. Your settings are saved in the same app folder. None of this is sent anywhere. You can open the folder from the tray menu (Open logs folder) and delete it at any time.
When it goes online. Only for these, and only when you ask:
- Weather: Sayso asks Open-Meteo for the forecast. If you haven't set a city, it estimates your location from your internet address using ipwho.is.
- Questions it can't answer itself: it opens your chosen AI assistant (for example Claude or ChatGPT) or Google in your browser, with your question filled in. From then on, that service's own privacy policy applies.
- Web and YouTube searches, and websites you ask to open, open in your browser in the same way.
- Models: the speech and language models come inside the download. Sayso may contact Hugging Face to check them for updates, and downloads the optional AI model only if you turn that feature on. None of this includes anything you've said.
Sayso also has an optional cloud speech mode that is off unless you turn it on yourself in its settings and add your own API key; if you do, your recordings are sent to that provider under its terms.
Typing for you. Sayso types by briefly placing text on your clipboard and pasting it, then puts your previous clipboard back.
This website
justsayso.lol is a plain web page with no cookies, no analytics and no ad trackers. To show it to you, a few companies see your internet address, like any website visit:
- GitHub Pages hosts the site and may keep standard server logs (see GitHub's privacy statement).
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces (see Google Fonts privacy).
The "Try it" demo on the home page is a simulation that runs in your browser. It never uses your microphone. The download itself is served by GitHub, which sees your internet address like any download.
If you write to us at hello@justsayso.lol, we use your email address only to reply. We don't share or sell it, and we'll delete it if you ask.
Children
Sayso isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect anything from them.
